As I was driving to work this morning, I passed a woman standing on the side of the road, holding a big piece of posterboard. She was expressionless, and held it over her head, looking a little like John Cusack.
Only it wasn't a boombox, it was a handwritten sign, with an arrow that pointed directly across the street and said, in thick sharpie, "<-- SARAH AT VTS TREATED ME LIKE DIRT."
It's not what one expects to see on a sign held by a person on the side of the road. My first thought was, "jilted lover," but why would the sign identify her employer, how was that relevant? Fooling with her Yahoo personals would be much more to the point.
So then I wondered if VTS was an organization that provides assistance to [crazy?] people and had offered poor service. I looked across the street where the arrow was pointing, but all I saw was a taikwondo gym.
Google had nothing. All it came up with was, "Did you mean VTA Mountain View?", which is the light rail, and I didn't.
You've got to admire her passion though--whatever it is she's passionate about. I've often joked about doing something like this when I've been treated like crap by someone in the customer service biz, but never had the balls (or quite frankly, the time) to make it happen!

I saw someone hanging off an overpass during my commute with a posterboard sign that said "Yes on 8." I thought Prop. 8 was the solar energy bill that the solar energy people say No on. So I was confused about why a regular citizen would care enough to hang off of an overpass to support Big Energy solar power or whatever that proposition covers. Um, guess that is Prop. 7. As the rest of the state knows, Prop. 8 is the I Enjoy Spreading Hate & Intolerance proposition. Something along those lines anyway. Still not sure why a sane, reasonable human being would feel the need to expose that sign, but at least I do understand the passion now. Not sure that standing near a high ledge is a good place to be if you're going to hold a controversial sign though...
